The Kennedy International Airport Power Plant is a gas-fired cogeneration facility located at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in Jamaica, New York.  Two LM6000 combustion turbines are routed to two heat recovery steam generators, which provide steam to one steam turbine and JFK’s thermal plant.

Electricity and thermal energy generated by Kennedy International Airport Power Plant are sold to the Port Authority, and incremental electrical power is sold to the New York System Operator.  In addition, electric power as well as chilled and hot water generated by the plant are sold to the Port Authority under an energy purchase agreement.

Calpine owns and operates four other power plants on Long Island – the 56-megawatt Bethpage Power Plant, the 48-megawatt Bethpage Peaker, the 80-megawatt Bethpage Energy Center 3 and the 47-megawatt Stony Brook Power Plant.
