CORPUS CHRISTI ENERGY CENTER

Banner Image

Corpus Christi Energy Center is located in Corpus Christi, Texas, on a nine-acre site. Two combustion turbines are routed to two heat recovery steam generators, which provide steam to one steam turbine. The construction of the plant was coordinated and managed by Calpine using a general contractor.

The plant provides steam and electricity to Citgo Refining Company and Flint Hills Resources and additional steam to Elementis Chromium under long-term contracts. Additional power is sold in the Texas wholesale market.

A special feature of this facility is the implementation of a saltwater cooling tower, which reduces environmental impacts and conserves precious city fresh water resources.
